I am a public relations major at Texas State University-San Marcos who will be graduating this May. I'm a student in Cindy Royal's Web Design class, and I am hoping to gain skills in creating Web sites. At the moment, it's a work in progress.

Born and raised in McAllen, Texas, I have had a keen interest in becoming involved in the U.S. arts/entertainment industry since my freshman year of high school. I am constantly amazed by talented individuals who devote themselves to practicing a particular art form. I believe it be both fun and rewarding to help promote people and organizations who encourage active learning about the fine arts as well as participate in related activities.

After graduation, I hope to start my career in the Austin area. Over the summer and fall semesters of 2009, I had the privilege to work at the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce as an intern in the communications department. The internship proved to be valuable one as I gained experience in effectively communicating with media outlets and learned the importance of having good networking skills.

This spring, I worked as an intern at Wyatt Brand, an Austin-based cultural public relations, design and branding agency. My experience was a good one, as I had the chance to learn more about Austin's diverse arts scene.

I will soon start a summer internship as a legeslative aide at the Texas Capitol with State Representative Ryan Guillen. Through this internship, I am hoping to further explore my current interest in public affairs.
